Implementation of Article 7.1 of the TFA enables traders to submit documents and other required information pertaining to the import trade transactions ahead of arrival of the goods at the port of entry. The overall intent and purpose of this provision is to enable quicker release of goods. Pre-arrival clearance is part of the national plan to enhance the efficiency of the logistics sector in the Sultanate and to transform the Sultanate into an international center for trade and logistics.
Pre arrival clearance is fully implemented in Oman. This is achieved through Bayan system, traders can now obtain all the required approvals from customs and other government control agencies prior to goods arrival as well as get their goods released.
