Circular on paperless procedures
Ministry of Transport announced through Circular No. 3/2020 on 20 March all paper-based transactions to be made electronic in regards to submission and processing of Delivery Order, Bill of Lading, and payments for services. The share of complying shipping lines and agents rose from 31 % to 45 % in one week.
MoCI eases labelling requirements
MoCI temporarily relaxed labelling requirements for food and health products. Labels in Arabic are not required as long as there are labels in English.
Free time extended at Muscat Airport Transom Sats Cargo extended free time for import shipments by 48 h. The new free time limits are 72 h for perishables and 96 h for general cargo. Earlier, the handling charge for import of perishables and medicine had been reduced from 26 baiza to 15 baisa per kg for a period of three months.
Reduced charges at Sohar
Hutchinson Ports Sohar waived documentation and weighment charges for medical equipment and supplies. The reduction is valid from 29 March to 30 June.
